WHEN Held each year on the LAST Saturday of February in conjunction with National Swallowing Disorders Month This year, World Sword Swallower's Day 2011 falls on Saturday, February 26, 2011 WHERE Celebrate with us at your nearest Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditorium, or with a sword swallower near you! WHY To raise awareness of the contributions sword swallowers have made in the fields of medicine and science To honor veterain sword swallowers To raise donations for Esophageal Cancer Research and the Injured Sword Swallowers Relief Fund with donations matched by Ripley Entertainment To educate the general public and dispel myths on the art of sword swallowing To do medical demonstrations for the medical community at hospitals and medical centers To raise awareness that the 4000 year old ancient art of sword swallowing is still a viable entertainment art MEDIA Media is invited to witness this incredible visual forray! At 2:00pm local time, sword swallowers will be making appearances, signing autographs, performing their individual signature acts, or unveiling UNBELIEVABLE NEW STUNTS, some of which have NEVER BEEN WITNESSED BEFORE IN PUBLIC! At precisely 2:27:10pm local time, sword swallowers at each property will swallow a sword in honor of veteran and fellow sword swallowers around the world! Local celebrities are invited to attend and remove a sword from a sword swallower's throat! Details are being kept secret until the day of the event.
